Church of St. Sebastian
Church of St. Sebastian was built by the first settlers of the island, around 1455, but underwent major maintenance works, including in 1568. After a major fire in 1789 , the new works were completed recovery only in 1795 .
In this church is necessary to point out the portals in the Manueline style , arches and ribbed vaults and late- medieval frescoes , unique in the archipelago.
This church is considered one of the most beautiful and valuable works of art existing in the Azores.
