Casa dos Fósforos [Matchbox House]
The Casa dos Fósforos is owned by João Bettencourt da Silva and displays part of his huge collection of matchboxes and matchbooks, which he has acquired over the years, and which is well worth a leisurely visit. The museum is installed in the old house which belonged to the estate manager of his property. Visitors can admire seven thousand matchboxes and matchbooks, both national and foreign, wax and amorphous, some of which are true relics, given their age and rarity.
