The Empire of the Holy Spirit of the Village of São Sebastião, founded in 1918 on Church Street, in the Village of São Sebastião, Angra do Heroísmo, celebrates the feasts of the Divine Holy Spirit on Pentecost and Trinity Sundays, the 7th and 8th Sundays after Easter, respectively. The stewards, responsible for organizing the festivities, prepare the events and maintain the empire during the period between the appointment and the beginning of the celebrations. During the festivals, there are processions, masses, coronations, food and drink distribution, and auctions. After the last Bodo, the Holy Spirit is taken to the home of the next emperor.
