The Império do Espírito Santo das Cinco Ribeiras in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, celebrates the worship of the Holy Spirit on the Sunday following the feast of the Holy Trinity. The empire has an ancient history, with records dating back to 1886, this being the second empire, after the first one was located in Ribeira do Mouro. The festivities include various religious and cultural events, such as the procession with the crown to the church for the festive coronation mass, followed by a procession to the empire accompanied by the Philharmonic of Our Lady of Pilar. After the ceremony, the pellet is drawn to determine the procurator of the following year, followed by a meal at the Casa do Povo and a lively party with music and auctions. The celebration continues in the following days with more cultural events, culminating in the traditional bullfight on Tuesday.
