Bullfighting Museum
Owned by Paulo Magalhães, the Bullfighting Museum was inaugurated on 22nd August, 2010, in the parish of Porto Santo. It contains a vast collection of objects and photographs connected with local bullfighting, especially the typical roped bull-fights, which have gone on in Terceira for centuries. Here you can see the bullfighters’ costumes, capes, posters, the heads of famous bulls, tickets for the bullring, religious images (like the virgin of Macarena, the patron saint of bullfighters), paintings, prizes and many other bullfighting icons collected by the owner from an early age. It is a journey through the history of the island bulls and bullfighting. The bullfights which took place in the old squares of Biscoitos and São João are of special interest, dating back to the beginning of the 20th century.
